Also for the Detroit area Oppos, what is there is do to kill time in that area. I’m gonna give 6 hours for the drive down in case of anything gets in my way.

Most places here you’ll get done for over 130. Thing is on most of our highways traffic is so heavy that the cops don’t feel like putting themselves in danger... So ironically the time when you’re most at risk of a ticket is when the roads are safest.

London has been known to clamp down harder than that, too. Sometimes they’ll nail you for a gnat’s fart over 120

Why is it a crime to go 80mph? The highways south of Toronto are so straight and empty.

I’ve been sticking to 125kmh with the cruise set for over a year now, since that ticket. The cops have treated me well enough.

Next question? Fwiw at the right time of day the 401 can be packed and the left lane will still be doing 140. Or more. I don’t go out London way too much so I can live with it... the fact that the “limit” isn’t actually a “limit” actually gives you more freedom most of the time. Though I think the limits are idiotic, when I stop to think I’m not sure I really want them to go up

Ehh I think thats your Canadian positive side coming out. Raising the limits gets everyone speeds closer together, switching lanes from 60 to 80 mph isn’t the safest thing.

Michigan raised some rural limits to 75(120) and I’ve passed a cop or two doing over 80 on those roads.

Reality is they aren’t going to listen to what the both studies and the public say though, and if they raise the limits at all will probably just be to 110. And then they’ll get the cops to patrol more and be stricter.

Tbh the highways don’t bug be except for some stretches—like around London—the ones that bug me are the country roads limited at 80km/h. They’re good for so much more. But because they refuse to raise the 400-series limits they keep those down at 80 for no reason other than it would make them look even stupider.

I keep forgetting thats a thing, that would be infuriating. Every rural road here is 55(88) and now some are 65 (104).

Not being able to do 100 kph in the middle of no where would bug me.

Fortunately, like the highways, in most places you can do that or better. Which is why I’d worry that if they did raise the limit they’d get more strict... guaranteed they wouldn’t raise it enough and that would mean actually slowing down
